A rather special line of turbines.

Scattered: a wind farm on an industrial zone, forest and sand quarry,
nine wind turbines generating enough electricity for 35,000 households,
In Venlo, of course.

Wind power in and for a special setting

In a beautiful location along the railway line between Venlo and Horst-Sevenum, nine turbines are spread over three areas: an industrial zone, a forest and a sand extraction site. As if that wasn’t diverse enough, the project was also challenged by having to meet the radar requirements of the Ministry of Defence. Greenchoice, the ABN AMRO Energy Transition Fund and Windunie have done an impressive job of building this wind farm. The wind farm makes an important contribution to the province of Limburg’s renewable energy targets. Together with the energy co-operative Samenstroom from Venlo, the wind farm is exploring ways in which the surrounding area can also benefit from the wind farm, such as an environmental fund and the possibility of co-investing.

Frederik Deutman directeur at ABN AMRO Sustainable Impact Fund: “Of course we at ABN AMRO understand a lot about financing, but when projects become complex and focused, it’s nice when you can rely on the likes of the finance professionals at IN.credible.

A compact and solid team

In early 2020, IN.credible joins the project as a financial advisor. Casper and Niels worked enthusiastically on building the financial model, working out the optimal financing structure and arranging the debt raising. They also supported the contract managers in the negotiations and then overseen the due diligence process. Financial close has now been reached and construction began. The turbines will started supplying electricity to Greenchoice customers in 2022.
